Symptoms

This is a dynamic list of possible symptoms I experience in no particular order.
  • Static in Field of Vision: This usually occurs in only one eye but can occur in both. If it does occur in both eyes the size and shape of the static is not necessarily the same. Usually this starts as a single point in my vision that resembles a small grey-out square that changes in transparency and darkness, making it flash somewhat. This small square is soon joined by others all of which seem to have their own frequency though they are all close to the same general range. This small cluster usually forms into a crescent shape that slowly grows larger and larger until it seems to pass beyond my field of vision. Occasionally this will be followed by a slight nausea or headache, but not always. The nausea is more common.
  • Double Vision: This has happened 2 times with a few occasions of it almost happening. Basically my vision splits into (I THINK) 2 side by side images. Each image is very focused and clear. Clearer than when my vision isn't doubled and my normal vision is very, very close to 20/20.
  • Momentary Loss of Focus / Vertigo: This is somewhat new, probably within the past couple of years. Here my vision will quickly go out of focus just a touch, waver perhaps for a second, and snap back into focus. When I get double vision, the feeling on my eyes is very much the same, just more pronounced and longer lasting. Almost always I'm a little nauseous after. Rarely have I been affected for more than a few minutes by this.
  • Head aches: I hate that I get these, and they are a more recent occurrence. I get them in four locations:
    1.  Behind each eye - Almost literally. Put your finger right at the edge of the outside of your eye where the bone just starts, and feel for the little protrusion of bone just above where the curve of the socket starts going up. THAT's where it hurts. Well there and about 2 inches straight inward.
    2. Above each ear - There's a point on each side of my head where the angle goes from more vertical to more horizontal. That rounded off "ridge" is where I have head aches sometimes. Strangely when these pass the scalp often itches after.
    3. Behind each ear - Wearing my reading glasses, I feel the end of the earpieces on each side. Just behind that is a bump in the skull. Right above that bump I get some bad head aches.
    4. Base of the skull / top of the spine: Here it feels like someone started a small fire. The dull ache spreads up and out making a sort of mushroom shape or really flat hexagon. The more sharp the pain gets the larger the area effected, or is it the larger the area effected the sharper the pain? I don't know. Either way it *explicative deleted* sucks!
  • Golden Motes of Light -Not sure if this is migraine related or not. I didn't tell my neurologist about it, but I've seen more of these things since being diagnosed and if it means anything more than "I'm getting older" I'd really like to not forget about them. I first noticed this phenomenon several months ago (less than one year). I was sitting at my desk, closed my eyes, and allowed myself to partake in a particularly large yawn. When I opened my eyes, dozens of tiny golden points of light burst! into my field of vision and darted like roaches for the edges of my vision. Each quickly winked out of existence but not before crossing at least half of my field of vision and leaving streaks in my vision as if someone had shined the light into my eyes and passed it across my field of vision very quickly. Admittedly a flashlight would have left a very large wake and these each left very small ones. Since then, I will occasionally see one of these motes appear, flash across my vision, and wink or fade out. Sometimes more than one will appear at or around the same time, but rarely more than two.
